The Times recently referred to the win by Snoop Dogg (real name Calvin Broadus) against Michael Gleissner in a UK trademark case.

 

A company controlled by Gleissner, notorious for his attempts to secure rights in famous brands belonging to others, had sought to register SNOOP as a UK trademark for goods including jewelry. On behalf of Mr Broadus, MJ successfully argued that Gleissner’s application was in bad faith and calculated to take unfair advantage of the goodwill built by Mr Broadus in the performing name SNOOP, in a musical genre that is associated with jewelry and “bling”.
